This residential fieldcourse is compulsory for all marine science students and will take place in June 2026; it is assessed as part of a Stage 2 module NES2501. It runs from 30th May to 6th June 2026

Course Description

A full briefing was delivered in Semester 1 to tell you about this course. The slides and recording of the briefing are uploaded to NES1501

Dietary requirements, medical conditions and room mate preferences should be communicated to staff via the appropriate forms (see relevant Canvas page).

You should come appropriately equipped for outdoor field work with wellies, raingear, waterproofs, warm jumpers, sun hats, sunscreen and midge repellent. You will need to bring towels, some cash for socialising and snacks.

Food, bed linen, and transport are all provided.

You may if you wish hire a bike for the week to get around the island.

Millport Field Course 

We will share your dietary information (see Canvas form) with the Fieldcourse Centre hosts (Field Studies Council) for the purposes of catering organisation, but shall not otherwise share your information with third parties. All of the information you provide shall be deleted within one year and will be stored securely.
