New diagnostics can provide great advantages to patient care. However, diagnostics developers need to provide a portfolio of evidence that demonstrates these benefits before their technologies can reach the UK market and benefit patients, the public and the health and care system.
On 30th September and 1st October 2025, experts within the NIHR HealthTech Research Centre in Diagnostic and Technology Evaluation will host a course on how to effectively develop and evaluate new diagnostics.
They will provide a step-by-step guide to evidence development alongside collaborators across Newcastle University, Newcastle Hospitals and the health technology industry. Sessions will include analysing patient care pathways, health economic benefits and the accuracy of new diagnostics as well as involving patients and the public in research. They will also highlight the support they offer to diagnostics developers at these stages.
The course will introduce key concepts and is open to anyone with an interest in this area.
This course will be delivered on Microsoft Teams.
