Wayne first joined the University in August 2006 as Deputy Librarian and was promoted to University Librarian, the post from which he retired, on 1 May 2009.
Wayne has been a tremendous colleague. His calm and intelligent commitment to delivering high quality services has helped establish the Library as one of the most innovative and successful in any university. The results for Library provision in the National Student Survey remain outstanding. The Library is the only one in a UK university to have received the Charter Mark five times, and now holds the Customer Services Excellence award which replaced it. The Library was also named Outstanding Library Team in the 2011 THE Leadership and Management Awards for work to develop the e-book collection. Wayne’s oversight of our teaching and learning services was particularly important in improving our provision to students after the introduction of the higher fees in 2012.
There will be a presentation for Wayne on Wednesday 29 November at 4 pm in the Courtyard and we hope as many of you as possible will be able to come along.
