Heather has had a long and successful career with the University. She undertook her first role in 1978 as a Demonstrator in Agricultural Biochemistry before successive promotions led to her appointment as Head of Department of Biological and Nutritional Sciences in 1998. From 2002 Heather was appointed as Dean of Undergraduate Studies in the newly formed Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Engineering, a role she undertook until joining the School of Biology in 2008. It is difficult to do justice to her contributions within these roles, but also in the many and varied administrative positions she has held both at Faculty and University level.
